Celine is pleased to present a selection of recent paintings by Ewan Murray.

The works are the result of a meditative studio process, where paintings are executed in parallel through considered, persistent acts of layering and revision. Images slowly and unpredictably coalesce until they hold an intrinsic charge, derived from a loyalty to the inherent demands of the medium. Murray’s intuitive combination of landscape paintings and still lifes reveals a diaristic honesty that is remoulded through the act of painting, where motifs surface obliquely and find touchstones in art history.

Ewan Murray (b. 1991, Scotland) studied Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art (2009-13). Selected solo exhibitions include: 'Portrait d'Intérieur' presented by Cento, Paris; 'Landscapes, people, buildings' at Telfer Gallery, Glasgow. His work has been exhibited in group shows including: 'Collec-tion Vol.4' at SIRA, Asnières-sur-Seine; 'Moderato Cantabile' at Stoppenbach and Delestre, London; 'Prestwick' and 'Prestwick Il' at New Glasgow Society East; 'Dusk' at Hospitalfield, Arbroath; and 'John Moores Painting Prize 2016' at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. He lives in Paris.
